Stepping inside you leave the rattle and hum of the city’s narrow streets behind. Chalky wafer-bricking, terracotta tiles, pebbled floors and the exuberant colours of the mansion's collonaded courtyards impart a beguiling Sevillano air, as do a trickling fountain, slender cypresses and the scent of orange blossom: the aesthetic code of Moorish Andalucía is never far from you in Seville. Each of the 15 apartments is named after one of the Bucarelli's illustrious forebears, and the antique furniture and tapestries of the family heritage that decorate the rooms evoke the rich history of this grand palace. Breakfast hampers are brought to you each morning, and you’re a shake away from the lively bars and restaurants of the Plaza de San Lorenzo and Calle Eslava, the new foodie hub of the city.
Highs
- You’re well away from the touristy bars and shops surrounding the Cathedral and the Santa Cruz quarter
- A courtyard plunge pool is a huge plus during hot Sevillano summers
- Rooftop views across Seville’s pantiled skyline are enchanting
- A good option for families - the apartments are large, each has a kitchenette and some have sofabeds for children, plus there's a dedicated family apartment
- With well-equipped kitchenettes in each apartment you have the option of eating a meal or two en casa
Lows
- There’s no communal guest space apart from the courtyards but the apartments are so large that this isn’t an issue
- Don’t expect full hotel facilities, though there is round-the-clock assistance in reception along with an honesty bar stashed with snacks and wines from the family bodega
- It’s a 20-minute walk to the heart of town but the whole appeal of this place is that you’re far from the madding crowd
- It’s too far to hump luggage from the nearest car park so you’ll need to grab a cab on arrival and departure

Rooms
The 15 apartments are big, light and airy. Named after Bucarelli family members - a viceroy, a countess, high-ranking officials in the church and army - their decoration mirrors the family’s blue-blooded past.
Towels, bathrobes and bed linen are embellished with the family coat of arms whilst framed prints are of people and places that shaped the family’s history. Ceilings rise to 6 metres with enough space to slip in mezzanines with sofabeds, whilst 2 of the swishest apartments (Penthouse with Terrace and Pool) have marble-lined plunge pools on their rooftop terraces.
Walls painted in muted shades of grey are contrasted by bright kilims and bed runners whilst furnishings - lamps, easy chairs, bedside tables – mix things rustic, antique and contemporary. It hangs together well and all apartments have fully-equipped kitchenettes tucked away behind glass-panelled doors.
You’ll have a snazzy bathroom featuring twin sinks, bidets, walk-in rain showers, big mirrors, natural bath products and the same wood-effect tiles you find in the bedrooms.
Features include:
- Bathrobes
- Hairdryer
- WiFi
Eating
The makings of your breakfast - bread, cereal, juice and so on - is delivered in a hamper outside your apartment each morning. In spite of all the kitchen gear – toaster, Nespresso machine, kettle and so on - we found it a bit of a fiddle and there are no dining tables and chairs inside some of the apartments. You’ll find a menu for the city’s best takeaway service should you fancy a lunch or supper in.
There’s no need to leave the San Lorenzo quarter when you head out to eat: some great eateries are right on your doorstep. Eslava, just around the corner, offers unforgettable tapas-style dining if you’re happy dining elbow-to-elbow with a crowd of animated Sevillanos. La Abacería de San Lorenzo also has oodles of local flavour whilst for fine dining Az-Zait, to one side to the quarter’s main square, is the place for a splurge.

Kids
Children are very welcome here. There's a Family Apartment, and having your own kitchenette could be a big plus for parents with young kids - who will probably be in their beds long before the Sevillanos are even considering heading out for supper! Children will enjoy the communal plunge pool or those in the mezzanine suites. Cots and high chairs are available and babysitting can be organised with prior warning.

The Family Apartment has 4 beds - 1 double, 2 singles - as well as a dining table seating 6. The Apartments with 2 Floors, the Penthouse with Terraces and the Suite Apartment have sofabeds that can each sleep 1 child.
