Getting There

The national airline is Caribbean Airlines, whose routes include direct flights from New York to Port of Spain, as well as from other Caribbean islands.
British Airways flies London - Tobago, with a brief stop in Antigua.
American Airlines flies Miami - Port of Spain.

Getting Around

Buses, maxi taxis (private taxis or minibuses) and route taxis (shared taxis) serve most parts of Trinidad, and some sections of Tobago. Though they might seem daunting at first, they are fairly reliable and affordable.

Car rental is better if you plan to explore a fair bit, especially on Tobago. You can hire vehicles easily from Trinidad's Piarco Airport (POS) or Tobago's Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson Airport (TAB) - we suggest a 4WD is best as the roads can get rough, as well as good insurance, as the local driving style and night lighting are not what north Americans and Europeans are used to.

Ferries ply between Port of Spain on Trinidad and Scarborough on Tobago. We recommend the express (3 hours) as the standard ferry takes six hours and is only marginally cheaper.
