Vienna: Why go

Voted 'most liveable city in the world' in 2018, Austria's capital city has undergone a real renaissance in the last decade, shaking off its staid, rather buttoned-up image to reinvent itself as a lively melting-pot of cultural influences. Tourists still flock for the classical music, Baroque architecture, Old Masters museums and the Opera Ball, but Olafur Eliasson's Yellow Fog installation, Otto Wagner's modernist architecture and a jam-packed calendar of eclectic festivals are an equally big draw. Throw in the open-air 'beach bars' lining the Danube in summer, and a hipster dining scene that's sprung up in the 7th district, and it's an enticing mix.
