Casas Almorós
La Romana, Valencia & Costa Blanca, Spain
Hidden away in the hills high above Alicante, this 100-year-old almond farm is a game-changer for young families. With just three self-catering cottages, it’s intimate, relaxed and equipped with every baby and toddler essential you could possibly need, from blackout blinds and bath toys to bed guards and Bumbos. Here, kids can potter about in a safe shaded playground, splash in the solar-heated toddler pool or dive into soft play and craft sessions, while parents sip complimentary poolside drinks and soak up the bucolic views.
Owners Andy and Nikki have cracked the code for stress-free family travel, offering three weekly home-cooked meals (an arrival barbecue, a crowd-pleasing spag bol and a fun pizza-and-cinema night), alongside unlimited ice pops, an onsite gym and pampering massages. Spend your days exploring the sleepy Spanish towns of La Romana and Algueña, taking day trips to the Costa Blanca beaches or hiking the hinterland trails. Whether booking a single cottage or the whole property for a multi-generational retreat, this is somewhere you’ll want to return year after year.

Best time to go
The Costa Blanca region enjoys a dry and sunny Mediterranean climate, making Casas Almorós a great option for a May or October holiday - perfect for both splashing in the pool and exploration further afield. June-August can be baking (high 30s celsius), but the cottages have air-con, the pool is a few steps away, and there are breezy beaches within an hour.
Our top tips
To sample authentic cuisine and local wine in a beautiful courtyard setting, one of the region’s best bodegas is just a 10-minute drive away. English-speaking babysitters are available if you fancy a meal out without the kids.
