This hotel, part of the Sircle Collection of chic European city hotels, promises a 'modern take on bespoke luxury' - hence the name, designed to evoke classy individualism. All the fundamentals are here - spacious rooms, battalions of welcoming staff, a luxurious spa, and sublimely contemporary interiors. The 91 rooms and suites are full of understated grooviness, and come with all the cool design essentials you'd expect: low-slung beds, floor-to-ceiling walls of glass, and American oak floors. Add Catalan art, drinks trolleys ready for cocktails, and a buzzy steakhouse-style restaurant, and you’ve got all you need for the perfect stay.
In the lobby, high ceilings and comfy sofas at the front give way to low ceilings and leather stools at the bar; a groovy orange pool table and a buzzing bar. In between you’ll find an open fire in winter and wonderfully comfortable swivel chairs. Up on the roof, there's a pool and classy cocktail bar, plus stellar views of La Sagrada Familia. This is a fun, funky addition to Barcelona's hotel scene.

Highs
- Funky and spacious rooms with heavenly beds - you can even buy the mattresses - and hi-tech gadgetry (snazzy lights, Grohe power showers, projectors for TVs)
- Excellent location - close to La Sagrada Familia and the Passeig de Gràcia - the city’s glitziest shopping street
- Rooftop pool and decked terrace with city views and excellent cocktails
- Sleek spa with a steam room, sauna and indoor pool plus a multi-page menu of treatments
- Extremely welcoming, experienced and attentive staff
Lows
- Not really an ideal hotel for families, although a few family-friendly rooms are available
- This is a serious design hotel with an expensive price tag
- With around 90 rooms and suites, it's less intimate and personal than our usual i-escape hotels - though service is excellent
- Breakfast isn't included in the rates and is a little on the pricey side
Best time to go
Barcelona is at its buzzing best in spring, early summer and autumn, when the days are sunny and the nights balmy. Locals tend to leave the city in droves in August, the hottest month of the year. Avoid December to February if you don’t like the cold - it can get surprisingly chilly in winter.
Our top tips
Sir Victor will be offering Sir Explorers - its own unique guided tours of the city - with DJs, photographers and sommeliers. Ask at the hotel for more details. Head up to the roof of La Pedrera after dark for an unusual, ethereal view of one of Gaudí's masterpieces.
