A lovingly restored neoclassical building with 8 apartments (sleeping 2-6) and star treatment in a quiet Florence neighbourhood

We don’t fancy ourselves clairvoyants, but the same can’t be said for the team at This Time Tomorrow in Florence. Or maybe it’s less that they can see into your future, and more that they’re composing it for you. From the moment you book, their local experts are weaving together a tailored itinerary, so that when you arrive in Florence, your story is already written and waiting to be brought to life.

It all centres around their gorgeous abitazione in the laidback Le Cure neighbourhood on the city’s northern edge. This tastefully restored building is a tribute to Florence’s rich tapestry of artistic heritage; a blend of old-world charm and modern aesthetics. Inside, there are eight bright and spacious apartments, each boasting full kitchens, sumptuous beds and private outdoor areas. The walls are adorned with classical art, some of the ceilings awash in professionally restored frescos, and the floors are a mixture of Cocciopesto Venezano mosaic flooring and elegant hardwood. Like the city around it, there is beauty, craftsmanship and local pride in every detail. And after a day of masterfully curated exploration, the shared rooftop terrace is the perfect place for an aperitivo as the sun sets over the city’s terracotta rooftops.

Highs

  • These sprawling residences couldn't be more stylish and comfortable – like stepping into your second life as a Florentine art connoisseur
  • We love that each apartment has a private outdoor space and the shared rooftop terrace sounds lovely
  • The service is second to none, with personalised itineraries tailored to your interests and a local guide to help with whatever you need
  • The kitchens are well-equipped for cooking up delicious meals and the welcome hamper provided is a special touch

Lows

  • The building isn't super central but in a residential neighbourhood about a twenty-minute walk from the Duomo
  • The residences aren't cheap, but you're paying for a truly special experience
  • There are no twin beds, but some have space for an extra bed to be added on request

Best time to go

Florence is a beautiful city to visit any time of year, though we especially love it in the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-October) when the temps are mild and the surrounding countryside is either in bloom or enjoying harvest season. In the summer months, it can get hot with heavier crowds, and the winter season is colder but much quieter.

Our top tips

Make the most of your resident curator, who can point you towards all of Florence's best-kept secrets and hidden gems. And make sure to save an evening for sunset drinks on the roof terrace.

Rooms

The apartments are spread out across the building from the lower ground floor to the attic. There’s a lift to bring you up to the higher floors with ease, and each apartment boasts a private outdoor area, from courtyard gardens and juliette balconies to sunny rooftop terraces.

All of the residences have spacious living areas, full kitchens, kingsize beds, and ensuites with rainfall showers (some also have deep, freestanding bathtubs). They are cleverly named after different times of the day: Crepuscolo (dusk) on the lower ground floor, Mezzogiorno (midday) and Mezzanotte (midnight) on the ground floor, 1AM and 1PM on the first floor, 2AM and 2PM on the second floor and 3AM in the attic. The largest is Crepuscolo with three bedrooms sleeping six, the smallest is 3AM with one bedroom sleeping two, and the rest are all two-bedroom apartments sleeping four.

Art lovers will appreciate the giant 18th-century tapestry that is the focal point in 1AM, while sun-seeking honeymooners will love 3AM’s private roof terrace. 2PM has a large kitchen and living space that opens onto a balcony, with stairs up to its own private roof terrace, perfect for couples travelling together.

If you are hoping to cook most of your meals, 2PM has the largest kitchen, while Mezzanotte’s kitchen opens out into the garden for al fresco meals from the comfort of home.
