Korsan Suites
Kalkan, Mediterranean Coast, Turkey
Kalkan may be known for its bougainvillaea-draped alleys, beach clubs and lively waterfront, but Korsan Suites offer something even better: a stylish, stress-free escape that combines all the luxuries of a private villa with the services of a boutique hotel. Set on a peaceful hillside just above the harbour, this exclusive collection of two-storey well-priced apartments is perfect for families and friends seeking space, seclusion and knockout Mediterranean views.
Each apartment has a sleek, modern design with open-plan living areas, fully equipped kitchens and ample terraces with private Jacuzzis. Lazy days can be spent sipping cocktails by the shared infinity pool, working your way through the onsite menu or wandering down to Kalkan’s pretty old town with its local market, restaurants and bars. Manager Memduh and his friendly team – who have been welcoming guests for years – can arrange boat trips, beach club reservations (a big hit with teens) or excursions to ancient Lycian ruins. Nothing is too much trouble. If design and location is what attracts guests to stay, it’s the top-notch Turkish hospitality that keeps them coming back.

Highs
- Beautifully simple but luxurious apartments, with daily housekeeping, concierge service and onsite restaurant
- Complimentary extras include a welcome dinner, hammam treatment, beach club access and a day trip on a traditional Turkish gület boat
- In a quiet area of Kalkan, 15 minutes’ walk to the harbour and beach, but with a supermarket, pharmacy and local restaurants nearby
- Exceptional staff – you’ll be well taken care of and welcomed with genuine warmth
- Super for families, especially those with teens
Lows
- The suites get booked up in well in advance, particularly during school holidays
- Lots of steps to the upper suites which can be a hot climb in peak summer; those with mobility issues will struggle as there’s no lift
- 7 night minimum stays at all times
- Recent development has affected the view from the shared pool area and terrace; the suites remain largely unaffected
- Kalkan itself doesn't have sandy beaches, these are a 10-minute drive away; the famous beach clubs are swimming and sunbathing platforms with ladders into the sea
Best time to go
Summer is high season, so you’ll need to book well ahead for school holidays when it will be busy in town and by the beach. It always feels peaceful at the Korsan Suites so you can dip in and out. We love the shoulder season months of September and October when the water is still warm but the crowds have disappeared and Kalkan reverts to a peaceful town. Korsan Suites is closed November through April.
Our top tips
Pack water shoes for boat trips and visits to Saklikent Gorge: pebble beaches and rocky coves can be tricky underfoot. In town, dine early to snag a prime rooftop table with sunset views. And don’t miss the Thursday market for local cheeses, spices, and the best Turkish delight.
