Languedoc Boutique Houses
Montreal, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

If you’re hankering for a relaxing escape to the French countryside with the kids, this might be just the place. A hamlet of four houses stands among the vineyards of the Malepere in the south of France, just west of Carcassonne. Uninterrupted panoramic views of the rolling hills are fringed by the spectacular peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains.
The houses are smartly designed in chic, home-from-home fashion and come equipped with everything a family could need. That’s because your (lovely and attentive) hosts, Becky and Phil, have designed the whole site with kids and their grown ups in mind. Think treatments in the spa room; frolics in the playground; delicious, authentic French meals delivered to your door; a ping pong tournament for the kids. Or laze by the pool while they try out the inflatables. This is a safe and oh-so-pretty place for young ones to be free to play, meaning more time for parents to relax. It’s a tricky balance to pull off, but, by all accounts, Languedoc Boutique Houses seem to have nailed it.

Our top tips
The region is home to some of the world’s best white vermouth. Head to the coastal town of Marseillan where the world renowned Noilly Prat is made. Have it over ice or channel your inner Bond with a dry martini.
